Prince William Plans to Join UN Climate Conference in Brazil

Prince William will represent the COP30 climate summit in South America in the coming weeks, as announced by palace sources.

Prince William and King Charles appeared together on Thursday evening at a event leading up to the climate summit, which is planned for in the northern Brazilian city of BelÃĐm.

The royal pair were present at the museum gathering, marking an rare public appearance together at a climate summit preparatory event arranged together with the British authorities.

Environmental Advocacy Commitment

The King has been a consistent supporter of protecting nature - and the Prince of Wales has taken on the baton, with his own environmental prize initiative, which will be held in Brazil before the COP summit.

Official representatives have portrayed the Prince's participation at the upcoming climate summit as stepping up an crucial position in "global climate discussions".

Previous Activities

The monarch and his heir, arriving together in the state Bentley, were welcomed participants featuring environmentalists, scientists, climate change campaigners, diplomats and government officials.

This engagement featured addresses in concert with President Emmanuel Macron of France and other international figures at the Blue Economy and Finance Forum in Monaco earlier this year.

Earthshot Awards Connection

The climate conference will coincide with the the royal's Earthshot environmental awards, which will conclude in the Brazilian city the previous day he participates in the climate conference on 6 November.

In recent days the prince referred to the award contenders as "heroes of our time".

Monarch's Environmental Record

King Charles has been a key figure at past COP meetings, giving the opening address in Dubai for COP28, including the statement: "Our responsibility is to protect the world we inhabit".

"Throughout my life I've dedicated a large proportion of my life trying to alert people to the critical dangers confronting humanity over planetary heating, global temperature increases and ecological decline," the monarch informed attendees.
